Oh my g-d I love this.

I love how Kat instantly switches from moping about poor little herself to Danni the moment she hears her.

I love how she really is all-around competent with the game. She might hate this situation, but she knows how to handle it.

I just… ahhhh. Good. This is so good…

(I HATE the scenarios of ‘someone who thought they were competent gets shown it / dragged down’ where this someone is the protagonist. I LOVE THAT KAT REALLY IS GOOD)

Looks like Kat’s not so useless right now after all.

A wild alert has appeared!

Kleya seems to be able to focus a lot better when she has someone to protect, instead of wallowing in her own self pity. Danni’s plea for help snapped her out of it real quick.

Reality; *Bi***slap* “Wakey wakey, i think someone needs your help…”

I think a lot of people are like that. It’s easier to wallow in self-doubt if you’re not thinking about what else you have to do.

Oh yeah, I’m celebrating right now, because there are five panels and lots of delicious dialogue! ^^ The last time we had that was page 495.

And it happened right on my birthday, too! Yay! 😀

I love Danni’s “Seriously?!”. It’s so weird that the Game doesn’t take care of these kinds of glitches itself. I guess that’s The Ending for you.

I wonder how they will deal with random encounters now. I just can’t imagine them beating up all encounters until they get a new Esone for our pacifist here. And I’m kinda worried about what Bandit and Jane can do to her now, now that she has no Specials and only as many plants as she can carry without her “Bag of Holding”.

Also I wonder if her father is watching, too, and instantly recognizing his daughter’s play style. He might even choose to take over the A.I. at some point. Though he might choose to side with her and subtly influence things to help her. Mani is the “evil pacifist” alignment after all.

I think she gets to keep her bag of holding. I thought I read somewhere that having at least 15% in a category gaveyou the bonuses of that category.

If I remember correctly, right before they encountered Aza’s group you could see the three Specials she had set (I forgot the order though):

Bag of Holding
Friendly Aura

And then she replaced Ha! with the Mean Eater. So if “no Esone” means “no Specials”, then she will have to carry the plants herself now.

Hullo! It looks like someone or something triggered Kat’s resurrection… at least, I’m pretty sure that facial expression says that -she- didn’t trigger it. If that’s the case, I wonder who (other than D, and it doesn’t appear to be his style to do anything without Kleya’s express say-so) is interfering in the workings of The Game?

To me it looks more likely to be a random encounter that she was just warning Danni about. That or Jane’s back. Either way ought to be interesting.

Old Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times”, and this game sure has its twists and turns.

But in panel 3, Kat appeared to be ghost-like whilst conversing with Danni, only to have something break her concentration (panel 4), then she appears more solid in panel 5. I got the impression (from what Kat was saying to Danni) that she was going to move to where Danni is before resurrecting… Instead, something ‘random’ has resurrected her earlier than she wanted

Hey, I apologize if this was explained at some point in the past, but why does the main page still show page 500? I was confused for weeks as to why you weren’t updating, until I clicked on it and realized there was more…

You probably bookmarked the wrong page. I’ve done that too, and sometimes it is hard to get the right page. For Not A Villain, you’ll want to click the banner at the top of the page so your URL reads only as “navcomic.com”. If you bookmark that you should get the new page every time.

Also, it could be your cookies. I had the same problem before.

Oh, you’re right it’s some sort of cacheing. Whenever I clicked on a link that led to the main page, it still showed the 500th, but when I refreshed that page while on it, it switched over. Dunno how to deal with it, but good to know it’s on my end, anyway. Thanks!

So… can one of the players who still has an Esone give theirs to her, so the party doesn’t have to worry about random encounters? Granted I don’t think it’s likely that any of the three remaining characters would do that, but it does seem like a good strategic move for the group.

That’s a good idea actually! If it works, the Dude might decide to do it out of fear of random encounters.

“Fair enough, no biggy. I mean, it’s not we can’t ALL fight any random monsters which show up…”

Uhh… If you’re referring to the first panel, I think that’s one of Kat’s ears there, not her elbow. (Makes more sense after all… You hear with your ears (cat-like or standard), rather than your elbows.)

If you’re referring to something else, I’ll go back to sleep…

Whew, Kat is acting as Danni’s knight in transparent armor. Danni is a great stabilizing influence on Kat, I ship it harder with each passing comic
