So Dude The Great has to get back in the story HIMSELF! No one can help him do what he must do alone, the narrator can only narrate the story he himself decides to make! Very inspiring! XD

Um…narrators are storytellers.

They just aren’t necessarily the author. But “narrator” is precisely synonymous with “storyteller”. Ye can thee narrate without ye be thee an author, but ye cannot thee narrate without ye be thee a storyteller.

P.S. Those “thee”s don’t mean anything, ignore them.

P.P.S. I’m only calling out the storyteller here, not the author. After all, while the narrator must be a storyteller, that doesn’t make the narrator the author. So saying that the narrator is messing up by asserting that a narrator is not a storyteller is not the same as saying the author has made this mistake.

I was wondering about that.

Yeah… “Dude the Great” is unlikely to get a story without some sort of hook. He could try wearing goggles and some belts and getting a catch-phrase and maybe taking up some sort of children’s-card-game. See how you like the sound of “I’ll shuffle your Soul!”?

Or you could transition to “Dude the Goat” with some horns and a tendency to headbutt things. They are also known to be effective against trolls, which that dragon is starting to look like… but once you have an interesting theme, like goatness, instead of a rather more simple one, such as greatness, you can start to get a proper story built around climbing and bleating and headbutting…

Does that mean the pet is outside the story as well?
Because I remember how you dealt with Bloody Mary.

Dude, the narrator TELLS the story, he doesn’t MAKE the story. YOU have to do stuff yourself so the narrator can narrate it!

I’d say Narrator gotta tell Dude how to get back “into the story” & whatnot… Dude strikes me at the clueless type.
