Wasted too much time laughing.

how far can that snowmans stick hand reach that you dont see him coming towards you?

RowenMorland on 04/23/2020 @ 2:52 pm

Extendy arms would be pretty cool, but Snowman might have been stealthed. Imagine a snowman decloaking to kick your arse 😀

Brilliand on 04/21/2020 @ 12:41 am

I don’t think he has much reason not to hack right now.

The Virus might react, but I think it’s more likely to be cool with it. He’s Jakey, after all.

If TENka finds out, then he was “acting like the cyborg to fool the Virus”. Probably would earn him points, in fact.

The Viewers aren’t going to find out.

Danni won’t figure it out. Kat will, but she’ll keep her mouth shut. What Snowman thinks doesn’t matter.

BaufenBeast on 04/21/2020 @ 12:48 am

I assume Bandit sensed an attack from behind and just barely dodged it. I wonder what happens if he calls for help?

Alexander The 1st on 04/21/2020 @ 12:52 am

Dude’s lucky that the cameras are off, else that presumably would start in-universe shipping of Dude and Danni.

Kale on 04/21/2020 @ 5:00 pm

I mean, that’s something that might actually help their viewer counts.

friendlymosquito on 04/22/2020 @ 5:43 am

Indeed, never underestimate the power of shippers :3

kit ramos on 04/23/2020 @ 7:17 am

Yea that’s true actually it likely would

GLJordan on 04/22/2020 @ 11:29 pm

honestly I suspect most shippers are either already shipping them or waiting to see if they last long enough to bother

and I suspect jakes special codes work even if his character is blind

@mouse-over: I think it makes sense. I believe it’s Snowman going into close combat with Bandit. But depending on what the coloring means he could also have ignited a Kame-Hame-Ha-type of blast and the squiggly lines imply heat.

Why yes I do believe that snowman’s design is just fluff and doesn’t imply an actual weakness to heat.

Drgnhawk on 04/21/2020 @ 11:39 am

I think the squiggly lines are Bandit’s version of noticing the code and reacting really fast. He’s not actually getting the direct updates from D that we see with Kat, but he’s still doing that thing Kat does where she sees the attack coming in the code and dodges before the in-game UI would give any warning.

If I’m right, then there’s actually three panels of him reacting to things that way: panel 3 is him noticing warnings on his code-overlay when he opens his eyes after the laughing fit; panel 4 is where he starts turning to look for the threat in-game. They both have the same background as panel 5, you just see less of it.

Of course, that background *could* be a nasty fire spell incoming from Snowman’s allies, instead.

Good point. This scene reminded me of so many animes where characters have some kind of intuition that lets them evade a surprise attack in the nick of time. That’s why I didn’t realize that it’s actually not something they should be able to do. If Bandit hadn’t closed his eyes I would’ve given him the benefit of the doubt, as he could’ve seen something in the corners of his eyes, but not if he decided to actually close his eyes while laughing during a suspicious situation.

Furthermore, we already know that his character is slow from being fatigued.

Or maybe the player doesn’t become blind if his character closes his eyes? That info wouldn’t be a spoiler, right, Aneeka? Are you still reading all the comments? You haven’t been responding in forever. How’s your health?

Aneeka on 04/22/2020 @ 11:10 am

Yes, still alive 🙂 And yes, still reading all the comments. Love them all <3

Bandit does not go blind when he closes his eyes.

Alex on 04/22/2020 @ 4:24 pm

Oh hey there you are! ^^ I wonder where your avatar went, though.

Thanks for the reference. That page by itself wouldn’t actually answer the question at all, because the characters changed topics, but since you said it I now finally know that back then he definitely wasn’t blind either. 😀 I did wonder how he was able to land that flying kick a few pages earlier. So his “There you are” was just for show.

I suppose this means that having no sight just means you don’t see some in-game info, e.g. how much damage you deal?

Slivercraig on 04/24/2020 @ 2:46 am

Yeah, I think the fact he’s not blind while closed eyes was hinted at quite strongly by Kat’s musings etc during the competition when bandit put on the headband yet still managed to put her to just the right hit points etc

Note: Firefox Android doesn’t show the hover text, and Chrome truncates it.

I’m not really sure what was intended for the last panel, but I’m sure the next update will clear it up.

Drgnhawk on 04/21/2020 @ 11:31 am

My Chrome (on Windows 10 desktop) did not truncate the hovertext, so there’s more to it than just which browser.

Rex Vivat on 04/21/2020 @ 1:59 pm

On Chrome, if you tap the truncated text, it will show it in full.

Kale on 04/21/2020 @ 4:58 pm

The north american snowman can roll their lower portion with such speed that it allows them to reach speeds of 60 miles per hour. Allowing them to pounce on their favored prey, the Tenka lapdog, before even it’s finely tuned senses know what’s going on.

Thanks for the page, Aneeka.

friendlymosquito on 04/22/2020 @ 5:47 am

Oh man I just thought of something. I know Snowman wants these two double-dead, but if they only manage to do single-dead (and something happens to Jane) then their party could do a extremely fun high-stakes hardcore no-esone run of the game 😀

Danger sense: get it, Upgrade it.
