Anyone else forget about this 2 years ago?

Kem on 09/17/2019 @ 5:51 pm

Yes, I went through the entire archive in a day this weekend trying to catch up

Xio on 09/18/2019 @ 1:20 am

I have a bad memory and will prolly be smacking my forehead for not recalling or thinking of it… or h*** over thinking it but what is going on with the sand?

ChunLing on 09/21/2019 @ 4:06 pm

It’s a classic ‘dirty’ fighting trick. One Kat has used before (not with sand).

It’s implemented in the Game, and apparently doesn’t ding Erbana.

Well, I don’t know if sand counts as being quite so harmless.

Brilliand on 11/05/2019 @ 6:08 am

I think the only thing that dings Erbana is death. Dealing nonlethal damage doesn’t give a penalty, it just isn’t something they’re good at.

Mouseless on 09/17/2019 @ 7:49 am

Is Kat about to own Bloody Mary while not even being logged in?
Because that’s funny as h*** xD

Chronocidal on 09/17/2019 @ 9:31 am

That, or Bloody Mary has deliberately tricked the AI into carrying out an Erbana act, to make it continue down that path? What will the grass do when it lands?

Liliet on 09/18/2019 @ 12:22 pm

OOooooh this would explain that

SeveredNed on 09/18/2019 @ 12:28 pm

I was thinking the same thing. Either it is going to be Erbana, or she’s providing a viewer justifiable reason for the AI to immediately run away from the violent aligned players.

D on 09/17/2019 @ 8:32 am

Geez, Jane sure does get a lot of things in her eyes… She may want to invest in a nice pair of goggles at this point ^^

Starwaster on 09/17/2019 @ 10:42 am

I’m not even sure she *has* eyes…

Iron Ed on 09/17/2019 @ 3:07 pm

Does kinda remind me of the ‘other’ people in the “Coraline” movie.

Just_IDD on 09/17/2019 @ 9:57 am

Think about it. This action will give reason to the already expected AI behavior. They were concerned that the AI’s action would seem anomalous. It no longer does.

Jane is being a smart cookie here. She is also looking out for her own interests in getting rescued since the group will perform better with all dependable people. Dependability is very important when living on the edge of society.

Drgnhawk on 09/17/2019 @ 10:51 am

More than that. Tenka wants the group to stay on the island; Jane & conspiracy want the group to leave the island. Sandra pointed out that if the AI takes the group for enemies and flees back through the portal, the group has to go with them in order to keep the ‘no leaving the group’ rule. Thus, Jane is ensuring that the AI will want to flee.

Whether it goes back through the portal is another question…as is, I suppose, the matter of whether this is an AI or whether it’s “Kleya always shows up” being proven at the last possible second.

In any case, at least we’re finally seeing why she piled a bunch of sand in her avatar’s lap.

Colin WG on 09/20/2019 @ 9:33 am

Portal is closed now if I remember right.

Drgnhawk on 09/20/2019 @ 11:54 am

Oh you’re right. I re-read the conversation and they’re talking about her leaving the island in general, not about the portal specifically. I guess that would mean going out into the chaos mists? That wouldn’t help Danni’s popularity, but it would be nice for the whole group if they could get to a better starting place.

There must be an island they coded up for Kleya’s mother out there somewhere, right?

Bro. Capt. Adoni-Zedek on 09/17/2019 @ 10:24 am

I love Dude’s reaction! Danni is thinking “Wait, is she attacking?” Dude is just “Get out of the way!”

So I know Bandit was slower because he stood up all “night” on watch. Jane was “up” all “night” too, though right? Shouldn’t she be just as slow as Bandit?

Guest on 09/17/2019 @ 2:10 pm

It probably also simulates reaction times. Jane didn’t start moving until she had already reacted. Bandit couldn’t start reacting until he had a Jane in motion to react to.

Starwaster on 09/20/2019 @ 7:35 am

A Bandit at rest will remain at rest until acted upon by Jane?

KTrimbach on 09/17/2019 @ 9:08 pm

I don’t think Jane was up all night. Bandit had to be because someone had to protect them from wandering MOBs (of which there curiously weren’t any) and from Jane.

zophah on 09/17/2019 @ 11:03 am

Now with what I’m seeing for Kat’s sand and grass, I’m guessing she foresaw this. What better way to control an AI of your own character, then by having it hold the very tools that provide a specific outcome?

Drgnhawk on 09/20/2019 @ 11:48 am

She also might have forseen Jane attacking Danni again, and prepared for needing to save Danni.

El Suscriptor Justiciero on 09/17/2019 @ 11:09 am

I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
I don’t mind grass though. Grass is okay.

Guest D on 09/17/2019 @ 12:08 pm

Call me crazy- or maybe even hopeful- but… what if the AI controlling Kat’s character ends up being D? Just a minor theory. :\

friendlymosquito on 09/17/2019 @ 6:56 pm

I’ve thought about that, and while it would be awesome, it would also be terrifying and probably destructive 😛

Rex Vivat on 09/17/2019 @ 8:46 pm

D would get Kat out of Erbana waaaay faster than a regular AI would.

jkkjhvkjv on 09/20/2019 @ 6:43 pm
