Oh no, the TV isn’t working anymore. Whatever shall I do? Oh, right, I could still socialize with my friends! I almost forgot I had one of those.

I thought it was really hard for her to move her avatar around because she has limited manipulation IRL and is mostly tranq’d out with local anaesthetic or something because she’s partially crushed (or whatever has happened to her).

BaufenBeast on 08/01/2017 @ 10:51 am

Worst case her arm might be gangrenous, and nobody around has the ability to amputate. She may not have much longer to live if this is the case.

Yeah, but this is an online game. It should be possible to chat with other people or write messages or something. She might be able to meet with people in similar conditions. As for the controls, her parents should be able to do that for her to a certain extent.

thebombzen on 08/01/2017 @ 1:48 pm

Keep in mind that in-universe, there might be a stigma against doing this sort of control directly, rather than via physical muscles. Doing this sort of control directly might evoke “The Cyborg Girl” and perhaps nobody wants to touch that technology.

Alex on 08/02/2017 @ 3:41 am

I don’t get what you mean. Why does “The Cyborg Girl” get evoked if May’s parents push a couple of buttons on her controls in Reality to get her to walk around for a bit?

To quote, “you can pull off a robot effect really well by only moving one thing at a time”. Having to navigate through a menu to make casual hand gestures ends up looking extremely odd.

Alex on 08/02/2017 @ 10:49 pm

I don’t think the cyborg girl moved like a robot at all, what with her having that thing that looks like a metal spine.

In our analog world, there are plenty of things to do that don’t require a paid connection to digital services. Within a digital simulation, not so much. Phone calls or chat messages to friends may not be free, and Mae has trouble moving.

Alex on 08/02/2017 @ 3:44 am

I don’t think messages cost something, because traffic-wise text is than talking to each other (just compare the size of an mp3 file with a MIDI file) and in LiFe a lot of talking happens.

Alex on 08/02/2017 @ 3:45 am

Sorry: “text is *so much cheaper* than talking”

Kleya: “So I’ve good news, and some bad news.

Good news: I know how to get you guys to Tenka City.

Bad news: you have to pretend to be me.”

Alex on 08/01/2017 @ 11:23 am

Hahahahaha, that comment made my day! 😀

Mae! Gimme five!
…Oh.

TokraZeno on 08/01/2017 @ 5:19 pm

D***, the TV isn’t working. If only I had some kind of headset that streamed video…oh wait…

Seriously though, I thought the Kido was designed for more than just Life. Annie’s story suggests that’s the case.

GLJordan on 08/02/2017 @ 8:53 pm

who said Mae was using a kido? going by the story shown Mae seems pretty much restricted to the house/couch and that is a major improvement on her off line life.

friendlymosquito on 08/01/2017 @ 5:58 pm

Oh Bandit. Keep his “feelings” out of it, huh? He doesn’t have feelings for Kat. Of course he doesn’t. (She’s NOT his girlfriend!)
