Okay, Bandit is playing nice for a change? Interesting.

I wonder what else the Dude can do aside from his “Running-gag”, because his long-time followers should’ve gotten bored of this by now if he didn’t do anything else. Heh, maybe he pulled a “Fansy the Bard” on a group once. 🙂

I call that on the next page Jane jumps out of the bushes and kills the monster. And tries to kill the Dude, too, so he just keeps running. 😀

The whole purpose of a sidekick is getting into situations where they need to be rescued by the hero, so that the awesomeness of the hero will be revealed to all. They are supposed to change mundane situations into near disasters, since you can’t rely on random chance to keep things interesting. And if they can be a comic foil as well, so much the better.

The Dude is high performing in this role. Without him, the Bandit would just be some guy.

Relationship status: Complicated.

Actually, I think Bandit might have done Kat a favor. Without an esone her Ervans score doesn’t change, it’ll be stuck at 100% Erbana. Meanwhile they can still have Jane go around killing things, because that removes the restriction for Kat.

Plus it’d probably boost her popularity if she goes through the whole game with a no-esone challenge.

Byzantine on 11/04/2016 @ 8:31 am

That’s a good point. I wonder if anyone’s done a no esone run before. I’d assume not since I don’t think many other than Kat and perhaps Bandit could pull it off for any length of time.

Except I think the whole Danni-died-with-her thing MIGHT have knocked her 100% a bit. (Unless it somehow recorded her death first… interesting question to consider… “I died before you so ha! Now you can all die and I won’t care!”)

kit ramos on 11/05/2016 @ 10:45 am

it would actually make sense that Kat would of died first. if you look back it was her that jumped in front of the fireball (or what ever that spell was) so she would of gotten killed by that, and then Dani afterwards from the splash damage.

Justin on 11/07/2016 @ 7:57 am

Nerd moment, but depending on the damage calculation system, it may have considered it instantaneous. In many systems, all damage from a given attack is calculated simultaneously, in which case either both of them would have DIED simultaneously OR, because she had already taken a serious hit, it may (again, depending on the system) have considered Danny dead BEFORE Kat, in which case it would have been a doubled knock on her score. Nerd moments over 😀

BaufenBeast on 11/04/2016 @ 8:57 am

Her score was lowed when *she* died. It just won’t be lowered further by Bandit killing stuff for a while.

Torrenal on 11/04/2016 @ 8:32 am

Is Kat at 100% still?
Does death occur, then stats update for death? Or is it the other way around?

Did Danni (who was in front and really hurting) die first, affecting Kat’s score?

Does death grant a brief meritorious on changes?

Only plot convenience can tell us these answers!
(Eep, that’s not right…)
Ahem, stay tuned for next time in the adventures of Kat the Destroyer, where we learn…
*thump*
…where we learn…
*thump*thump*thump*BANG*
Ow! Er…where we learn how not to fix crystal balls with blunt force impact.

nope Kat was in front, Dani was next and it seems dude was pushed out of the way.

So thus Kat would of died first, though Dani wouldn’t of lived to much longer, a few seconds to a minute maybe. but still I think Kat died first.

FYI, Dude in Distress is already a thing on Drunk Duck:

Dude the Damsel / Dude in Distress –> unsurprisingly, Distressed Dude is a trope…

…of course, in this case, it’s also a Running Gag…

I know TVtropes. Already spend way too much time reading it:)

Still luving this graphic novel. Been following from day 1 (well… I guess we all have) and it just rawks. Great storyline. Fun artwork. Good characters. And the tease plots are still driving me nutz. 😀
I am also consistently amazed at how deep the fans are into the details. That’s a dedicated following. Oddly enough I’ve become a fan of Jane (well, not a fan, but her character is very interesting)… and can hardly wait until we learn more about her background and what drives her.

Ki on 11/04/2016 @ 8:01 pm

Why is he asking Kat? Because HE can get xpfor it, and right now, she can’t. So if someone else can do it, she should hold on to what she’s got.

AeroQC on 11/04/2016 @ 9:16 pm

It looks like Bandit is about to pull a Kamehameha with that pose in panel 4.

Screwball on 11/04/2016 @ 11:59 pm

But, but, I hear it takes 50 years to learn the Kamehameha Wave…

DracoInduperator on 11/05/2016 @ 8:03 am

“Dude the Great”, and “Dude the Damsel” both are worthy titles for The Dude. However since their can only be one title we shall combine them: “Dude the Great Damsel”!

Chiu ChunLing on 11/06/2016 @ 1:21 am

Are none of them wondering where Jane is right now?

Because even if Jake was kidding about her stalking The Dude…well I can see he has more immediate concerns, but apparently the rest of them don’t.

Kaliope on 11/06/2016 @ 4:03 pm

Who else feels like that one crack gained Danni like 500 fans?
