Well, at least both Kim and Dr. Grace have good intentions.

I can’t wait until they start talking about Kat’s performance. 🙂 Apropos: I’m really surprised that Kim didn’t mention her or Bandit’s team killing at all. Did his horrible plan to prevent suspicions by taking away her 100% actually work?

Actually I am impressed that no one commented it. I mean, in a way, he didn’t have any reason to do that. Wouldn’t that show that something was wrong? I mean, come on, he did something which was in a way taboo there.

Dr Grace makes a good point.

The other downside is that tightening your grip on a populace just encourages open rebellion amongst the people, rather than obedience.

When did Dr Grace get all wise? IT’S A TARP!

Alex on 06/27/2017 @ 10:48 am

Maybe the trap is below his tarp-like bald head. 🙂

KTrimbach on 06/28/2017 @ 5:56 pm

I agree. We’ve kind of been conditioned to see Dr Grace as the bad guy, but maybe he’s not so bad. It kind of sets him up to give himself up as a sacrifice at some point.

Dragon Master on 06/27/2017 @ 9:35 am

LOL “She’s like an aunt to me.” Kim would probably throttle him if she heard that.

Side note, I’m not seeing any mouseover text for the comic. Is it just not showing up, or is there no text for this page?

Romanticist on 06/27/2017 @ 11:05 am

Mouseover text for me says “Blobs are back!”

Alex on 06/27/2017 @ 11:01 am

I swear I’ve seen Bandit’s expression on Kat somewhere before, but I don’t remember where it was.

Phyrior on 06/27/2017 @ 11:10 am

It was Kleya’s expression, I believe.

Alex on 06/27/2017 @ 12:33 pm

Yeah, you’re right, I searched the archives and found a bunch of pages.

I think I was reminded of panel 1 here:

Torrenal on 06/27/2017 @ 12:28 pm

So…. does Dr Grace not fear death?
Does he embrace death?

Whoever set off the apocalypse certainly embraced sending others to their own deaths. Is Grace friend or foe? Protagonist or antagonist?

By itself I wouldn’t worry much about his comment on death being inescapable. Given his fixation on finding our main character however…

Are you a fan of Methods of Rationality, or do you still need to read it?

Alex on 06/28/2017 @ 5:33 am

@mouseover: I almost missed that the blobs are back. ^^ Here I am saying that I miss the blobs and on the very next page they return. Does that mean I am responsible for the mouse-over text?

So I guess even blobs can receive an art upgrade. Now they’re able to play Blobby Volley together.

Btw: Bandit’s chin in the last panel has an error. I think it’s called aliasing?

@Aneeka Some villain has hacked your site about hackers and villains! I keep getting redirected to a phishing attack, on iPhone Safari.

Maldict on 06/28/2017 @ 3:52 pm

Most likely is a bug on your phone, not the site itself.

Aneeka on 06/29/2017 @ 11:28 pm

Could be a bug on the phone, or it could be a bad ad that has snuck into my ads. I’d need a screenshot to figure it out, though.

Alex on 06/29/2017 @ 1:00 am

My Yotaphone 2 (Android 4.4.3) luckily doesn’t show this problem.

Maldict on 06/28/2017 @ 3:44 pm

Perhaps this is far fetched, but…

Could Kim be Kat’s mother?

1) While we’ve been told over and over again that Kat blew up the hospital that “everyone knew” her mother was in, it’s never been explicitly stated that Kat’s mother is dead by Jake or Brandon. (Although it’s clear Kat does think her mom died).

2) In the past few pages, Kim has stated she’s known Jake since he was a “little brat” and she become very emotional (“Don’t you dare defend her”) when Jake started to make a case for Kat.

3) Jake has previously stated Kat’s mom was the closest thing to a mother figure he had and here he claims Kim is like an “aunt” to him.

4) Real-life (little) Kat has been shown with brown hair and darker skin, so she could very well be half-Japanese (as I assume Kim is, since Jake referred to her as “Kimi-san” a few pages ago).

Evidence against would be Kim referring to Kat as their “psychotic girl”, but I think that could be Kim trying to distance herself from Kat (in a ‘that cyborg is no longer my daughter’ kind of way).

In any case, I think Kim has (as of yet undisclosed) close family ties.

KTrimbach on 06/28/2017 @ 5:52 pm

I’m pretty sure that’s not right. We saw Kim and Kat’s mom together in the RL pages – particularly when “they” came and took her father away. Also, Kim has consistently said that she hates Kat for killing her best friend (i.e. Kat’s mother).

GLJordan on 06/28/2017 @ 11:01 pm

I think KIm would actually be please to be considered his aunt thought she might hide it. regarding Dr Grace and Death at one point in your life you might find or feel you have nothing to lose in dying. especailly if you are reunited with those you have lost.

Awhorl on 06/29/2017 @ 8:20 am

Early on I was afraid Dr. Grace was Kleya’s father (since “dead” often means “whoops not dead at all”). Now I’m wondering if he’s Kleya’s father trying to be no longer a villain . . . either . . .

Drgnhawk on 06/29/2017 @ 1:03 pm

Personally, I think Kleya’s father is this never-on-camera “president” who is so irraitonal about Kleya that Dr. Grace is always trying to keep him out of the search.
