IMO – because it’s hard for him to say it out loud

I’m thinking it’s because of how it comes across. he knew she’s be more likely to hear the whisper, and her knowing he did it in a way that isn’t going to get him any side benefit might also served to grab her attention more.

He did it by whisper because the cameras are off… For the public Tenka is not public 😉

So… the ‘Bandit is Danni’s prisoner’ plan?

Oh no, I finally caught up with the story. Now I have to actually wait to find out what happens 🙁

Jakey volunteers to get kicked to convince not Keiko, but the AI controlling Kat that he is not a threat. I wonder when she will realize what is going on. If she starts paying attention to her surroundings she might notice that their party stream went offline.

Trying to figure out what that expression in panel 2 means.

One reading is: Oh no I can’t help Kat without Danni’s help bc I’m hopeless at friendship.

But I almost wonder if its: Oh no, those exact words Danni said are coming back to haunt me.
Like, what if that was something he said to Keiko once? Or one of their dads said it to him? It’s just that he looks ANGRY at the words, not just worried.

Either way, good to see Danni’s take-no-bull attitude is getting through to Bandit ^_^

The expression looks like helpless rage, to me. I interpreted it as him thinking, ‘Your obsession with what friendship *looks like* instead of what it *does* is going to get you killed. You are ignorant, and weak, and have absolutely no sense of the consequences of your petulance!’ Him saying “I’ll do it” at that point was (for me) deciding to basically flip the table and risk everything on a hopeless gamble because (as he believes) the only smart one in the party got the only smart plan vetoed by the dumbest member in the party.

Interesting… My take on it is the helpless rage is from his recognising that Danni’s plan is actually valid, and he can’t go it alone at this point. Starting to act like the better person he believes himself to be certainly isn’t easy, but truly convincing Kat of his motives is going to be ever harder so he better start trying.
The toughest part will be defending this choice to his tenka overlords, hopefully they’ll buy whatever story about fan appeal he’ll need to come up with.

Really like the last panel and Danni’s look of surprise, almost shock. 🙂

not sure but I think he realized he can no longer try to please everybody and had to pick who mattered most.

Bandit doesn’t want to get low on health. It’s too risky. But it’s the only option he can think of at the moment. Don’t overthink it, people.

To me, this just sounds like he’s stalling for time.

But what if they are mistaken about the A.I. behavior? They are guessing based off of a lot of unknowns. It views Danni as a friend, someone to help and protect but didn’t they say that it had no reason to do that? That is should be focused on survival and elimination of threats?
