I am so glad I rediscovered this webcomic. it is amazingly written, incredibly drawn and colored, and Kleya’s (or rather Kieko’s) struggles are so believable for a brilliant child who was given everything she ever wanted, and then accidentally caused the appocalypse and now just wants to prove to the world (but probably more to herself) that she can be good, that she’s not the villain she’s been painted as.
And the way you show ptsd and trauma affecting people (particularly with Brandon and the mecha flashback) is wonderful, and it’s so refreshing to see trauma like that be taken seriously instead of made into a joke.
Thank you so much for making such an incredible comic.

D’aw, thanks! And thanks for reading! It’s the main reason I write the story 🙂

I would have to agree with Magi, the characters are so well done and the way you show how they react to things and how it affects their decisions really makes the chars not only feel deep but real, and how they interact with each other and how things play out. It’s amazing, in a lot of stories you often get those situations where it seems something had to happen simply to move the plot along. but not here. here you can understand what’s driving the characters. even when you don’t know what’s all going on like in the plot between Jane and Sandra. There is enough there you can see how it affects them. this is a wonderfully complex and well made story.

Hehe, making Danni jumpy and scaring her right afterwards. Bandit and Dude make an excellent team.

In panel 3 we can see what Bandit’s high sight stats are good for:
He can give us a Look right through Danni’s shoe.

I do believe he is a ghost at this point, the block reflex was just that, a reflex. The look is a “I seriously just did that?” look.

Oh, that would be a cool ghost feature: “I am a ghost and thus the other person becomes transparent.” 😉

I believe the intent is that her foot is through his head at the moment. You’re not seeing his face through her transparent foot, you’re seeing her foot through his transparent face

Okay, that makes more sense. Now I understand the mouse-over text. But even now it’s still difficult for me to view that panel this way. I thought about what could’ve been done differently and the first thing that came into my mind were how those white speed lines aren’t transparent where Bandit’s face is either. I mean, they _are_ exactly where the foot went.

Maybe if Bandit had been a lot more transparent?
Or if the foot had been a lot more transparent, maybe then the distinction between inside and outside of Bandit’s face would be more obvious?
I dunno, I think it was mostly the speed lines and the fact that I hadn’t realized that he was a ghost at all.

Alex on 06/02/2020 @ 2:50 pm

But you’re right, he’s still a ghost. I hadn’t realized it, because he’s barely transparent at all, while when Kat died her appearance was quite obviously ghostly.

How I see it, he was very transparent a page ago so I believe that as he is respawning he is becoming less transparent. In the last panel, he is solid. Seems to me when you respawn in the Game, you become visible (perhaps to your friends/group only) but retain ghost qualities for a short time, so you won’t be killed immediately by people prepared for you and the time you have left until that happens is represented by how close to fully visible you are. I think Kat looks more ghostly because Bandit is almost “materialized” at this point. Just my interpretation.

Panel 3 is fun! But I like panel’s 5 & 6 best overall. 🙂
