With teammates like these, who needs enemies?

Seriously, the only deaths so far have been “friendly”-fire. Are they getting a swell of viewers all betting on who kills who next? Jane was probably the expected one, so anyone who bet on the Dude must be feeling pretty good about themselves.

Alex on 11/19/2019 @ 12:48 pm

I think Jane killed Aza’s group off-panel, because otherwise she’d be out of the Game by now.

Drgnhawk on 11/19/2019 @ 2:50 pm

I’m pretty sure attacking groups other than your own is allowed. Weren’t they planning on attacking Jane in the first place?

Alex on 11/19/2019 @ 8:26 pm

I know. I meant that if she hadn’t killed Aza’s group as a result of attacking them, they would’ve killed her permanently by now. Her bounty WAS the reason why Aza approached Kat’s group in the first place after all.

EnderDDT on 11/19/2019 @ 11:12 pm

The bounty was implied to not necessarily exist. The leader of that group was trying to make an excuse for Jane’s group to turn on her and a bounty made a good one. Jane’s old group was about to be kicked out due to low ratings so it is unlikely that they were powerful enough that anyone would care to pay for a bounty on Jane due to what she did before. Her one and only claim to fame that we know of, afterall, is that she killed off her teammates.

Alex on 11/20/2019 @ 10:49 am

Okay, I didn’t get that implication. Who implied it?

But aside from the fact that some people might’ve issued a bounty to get rid of Jane for killing her team-mates (because fans, because Tenka dislikes her or because other groups might generally fear her or be afraid of losing attention to her etc. etc.) they also could’ve issued the bounty because she counter-petitioned Waterman out of the group.

So, yeah, it COULD be a lie, but there’d be plenty of possible motives for an actual bounty. I guess you’d have to ask Jane whether or not she has increased stats. Though she mainly speaks in stabs and slices, so try at your own peril. 😉

The odds on Dude killing Jane must have been, like, 100 to 1. Dude fans will be rich now! Will we get to see Bling Blobs following Dude now?

Ladyofthemasque on 11/19/2019 @ 3:56 am

“Dude! Where are the girls?”
“They took off running further into the cave.”
“Dude, they’re stealing my job!”

…If this isn’t on the promo ads for their team, their sponsors should be shot. (With nerf darts. Repeatedly & frequently until they beg for mercy, but with very soft nerf foam suction cup dart thingies for days on end.)

Alex on 11/19/2019 @ 5:35 am

Yeah, I enjoyed this page, too.
Well, Dude, it’s not stealing if making Kat run away was everyone’s plan all along. It’s more like a work exchange program really: You stop Jane and Kat runs away.
As you can see, you both have much to learn: You killed Jane and Kat didn’t scream at the top of her lungs (and probably won’t attract a Deselione either even though SHE is on it’s native island).

I LOVE the first and the last panels of this page.

Also the fact that AI Kat is saving Danni.

But also the first and the last panels.

GLJordan on 11/21/2019 @ 4:43 am

I don’t think the ai is controlling Kat anymore if it ever did

Nikary Flare on 11/22/2019 @ 2:08 am

Yeah, Kat’s behaviour doesn’t really look like she’s still an AI.

But her kicking and nearly killing Jane, as well as not saving her when Dude offed her just now, is not consistent with what the real Kat would have done.

Pyronaut on 11/19/2019 @ 9:18 am

Is it suppose to say “We should count as safe”

Because why would a game respawn you in an area deemed not safe?

Ophidiophile on 11/19/2019 @ 11:07 am

He means it is not safe for them to be there when Jane respawns.

Alex on 11/19/2019 @ 12:47 pm

Ohhhh, and here I thought that that sentence was supposed to mean “We shouldn’t count ourselves safe yet.”

But your version makes more sense, even though I can’t fathom why running away would help them in that case. Unless party members can respawn alone. And in your version I also don’t understand why the Game counts it as safe to respawn near the person that just killed you, but I guess that that’s what happened when Bloody Mary killed her party, too. Oh well, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. 😀

Steeeve on 11/19/2019 @ 11:08 am

oO THAT killed her? They must be really weak or the sand helped somehow.

There is extra gravity. Falls are super-lethal. It is only, like, x2 or something, so it shouldn’t be that bad unless you hit your head or something. I mean, falls CAN be lethal even normally, and superfalls would be worse obviously, but I feel as though there is a bit of a bug in the falling script, where it doesn’t factor in breaking the fall or something so you take damage as though you had been upside-down resting on your own head or something instead of slumping from standing.

But long story short: It is the extra gravity. They take extra fall damage.

Alex on 11/19/2019 @ 8:30 pm

In x2 gravity I would not be able to stand up. I weigh about 100Kg and just imagining having to walk around weighing 200Kg makes me shudder.

Meerling on 11/19/2019 @ 9:47 pm

You weigh a lot more, and it’s difficult, but it can be done, just ask anyone that weighs around twice what they should due to obesity.
The weight is distributed, so it’s not the same as trying to carry it.

The worst part is the acceleration per second that we use to calculate “Gs” at is likely doubled.
Earths gravity causes a falling acceleration of about 9.807 meters per second squared.
If you double that acceleration to about 19.61 meters per second squared, you can start to see how this gets exponentially nastier.
It should still be survivable for small falls, but no guarantees, especially if someone is on top of you when you fall.
Of course, the Game isn’t a real world simulator, it’s more of an approximate made for fun and adventure. So don’t expect it to completely follow physics in anything. 😉

Another small note: When a body falls, it’s not like it’s calculated from the height of the feet. If you don’t bend over so your butt takes all the impact, it will usually be appropriate to calculate the height your head falls. Trust me, this hurts. I’m definitely more than 6′ tall, and that difference in height and mass really increases the impact from when I was shorter and lighter. (More mass falling a longer distance with an exponential increase. Ouch.)
Though I doubt the game is that precise.

Alex on 11/20/2019 @ 10:45 am

Well, I did some quick Google-fu and just found out that apparently weight can mean either mass or force, hence the misunderstanding. I was not aware of the latter, because when I weigh myself I get Kilograms rather than Newtons. And I shall continue to use weight that way. 🙂

But generally I agree.

Magtei on 11/19/2019 @ 5:09 pm

There was some mention about increased fall damage earlier (due to gravity?), hence why it mattered that the last fall was prevented.

HedronMyr on 11/21/2019 @ 1:07 pm

Something no one seems to have accounted for yet:

Jane no longer has an Esone, yeah?

Nikary Flare on 11/22/2019 @ 2:11 am

Hoooo boy. No specials (not that hers was still working anyway) and no alignment, then.

…and an island that just happens to have the kind of esones she needs.
