…So Kat’s back.

Meerling on 10/29/2019 @ 1:58 am

That’s definitely not an AI running Kat

Nikary Flare on 10/29/2019 @ 3:38 am

Okay, so are we SURE that’s still an AI?

Ooorah on 10/29/2019 @ 4:47 am

Sooo, is Kat back now? The saving Danni from the fall, the look in her eyes, all seem a bit too human?

Course, they still have to play this out for the audience.

Mighty Bob on 10/29/2019 @ 5:31 pm

I reeeeallly want to think that the previous few pages were an AI ( a badly programmed one compared to the ones we’ve seen from Jake and likely in L.i.f.e. Like you’d think if the Game was as important as it seems to be that Tenka would at least try to have a general AI for each type of player, including Erbana )

Sure Keiko prepared her avatars resting state to be badass for when she next logged in, just in case, but her avatars actions in the pages previous to this certainly aren’t Keiko’s. Considering that Dana is one of the few friends she’s made in game ( or really ‘made’ period. As opposed to those assigned to her by her father or self acclaimed like what’s her face ) Keiko will likely be horrified to find out how her avatar treated her when/if she logs back into the game as Kleya/Kat

Sorry if this is ramble-ly…should be heading to bed before heading to work now, but just not ready to fall asleep yet….so this is likely a bit disjointed…osrry

I think she’s acting more like Keiko than Kat, as as soon as she logged-in, the ahh… fecal matte hit the rotating ventilator propellers, and she’s trying to get a handle on the situation while also trying to keep everyone alive. Remember, Kat isn’t real. She’s a persona, a mask that Keiko dons and a role she plays as she tries to fit into this new society. Kat is to Keiko, as Clark Kent is to Superman. While Clark Kent can be said to be how Superman sees humanity, Kleya Smith is Keiko’s idealized self, or rather, who she wants to be. But in the end, it’s all an act.

To that end, please let me amend your statement: those actions aren’t Kat, but Keiko.

But, ya, Keiko is definitely in, not an AI. The set up of her pouring sand into her lap before logging out and then using it on Jane, along with the follow-up moves aren’t something an AI would do. The actions are too specific and too focused on the non-threat entity, ie on Danni, rather than Jane. AI tend to be cheaty in games by having full awareness of their surroundings. At least modern ones do.

Okay, so my question is why Danni was yanked in the first place, if she was just going to save her from the fall after doing it. I’m guessing it’s a setup for a follow-on move… what’s the follow-up? is danni about to be impersonating a stool?

GLJordan on 10/30/2019 @ 9:02 pm

most likely K is just trying to keep her and Danni alive. no sooner did they all log in than Jane went attack mode again. K wanted to get them both to safety after the counter attack but accidently put her off balanced.

I wonder what AIs base their actions off of? If it used Kat’s play so far, it might have noticed that Kat protects Danni. On the other hand, it would make sense for Kat to sneak into game at the last minute disguised as an AI, so she can keep trying to be good without Bandit blowing her cover.

mnmega on 10/29/2019 @ 9:42 pm

Seriously, what’s Jane’s problem.

dooomninja on 10/30/2019 @ 3:32 pm

i just love the clear progression of thought on kats (or kats bots) face in the middle three panels. from “kill” to “wait what?” to “oh s#/*!”

Iron Ed on 10/30/2019 @ 4:22 pm

I think Bandit’s got Jane this time.

And I like how the page came out too!

Astonishing Coward on 10/31/2019 @ 2:29 am

Jane’s got this. She needs Kat back in the game? 4.5 seconds.

Jimbo on 11/02/2019 @ 3:30 pm

I’m thinking Kat never logged out. Didn’t trust the party

Christian Rose on 11/07/2019 @ 6:01 pm

Calling it now: That’s D.
Didn’t Kat tell him to keep Jane safe? An AI wouldn’t have a time limit on that…
