Look, it’s not that complicated: Kill Jane. Pain in the a** leader, who isn’t a leader, h*** bent on killing all of you because… er… just kill her already. Or let Kat do it, because she’s obviously run away. Jake would already know this; there’s no point in trying to manage her bot-driven character. And even if, in an alcohol-induced madness, she *does* come back after having been discovered, there will be *less* consequences, long term, for letting her abandoned character become Morto than keeping Jane around. GET. RID. OF. HER.

Get rid of Jane, get rid of Jane… What that would accomplish? If they were to become a “normal” group, their ratings would go below the threshold. To put it another way, their group is functional as long as it’s dysfunctional, and Jane contributes to that.

I thought this was a cunning plan by Jane. Pretend to want to kill everyone, that will be accepted by the audience since she did it in her last group. But it will also serve as a publicly visible reason for any erratic AI behavior, as well as a way to blatantly herd the AI somewhere.

And later on (after some behind the scenes talking) they can have some kind of public discussion at which Jane gives them some hammed up cause to let her live, and they decide to never keep her as logout guard anymore. (So win-win for Jane)

lol, it’s his smug face; makes people want to punch it.

Is his eye green from poison or from a coloring meant for his textbox?

Ooorah on 10/08/2019 @ 5:03 am

Keep it! Otherwise it might get a little confusing.

Owen Smith on 10/08/2019 @ 7:31 am

Jane is an idiot. And the rest of the group are idiots for putting up with her.

DragonMaster on 10/08/2019 @ 9:01 am

You made the right call! Leaving in that thought in the last panel just makes the whole thing so much better.

KTrimbach on 10/08/2019 @ 9:08 am

Who didn’t see that coming – except Bandit of course.

I’m can’t believe that Jane didn’t have a plan here. She always has a reason for the crazy things she does. Wonder if she included Kat’s return attack in that.

Last panel with line: comic
without line: super cool poster O_O

Psycho gonna psycho.

maeverin on 10/08/2019 @ 3:39 pm

heh, i think you should make it a whisper.

Iron Ed on 10/08/2019 @ 3:52 pm

Don’t think I’d want to wake up to that 1st-panel face looking down at me. Kinda creepy? 🙂

Leaving -out- the last panel “thought” would likely have made for a lot more… ‘discussion’ about interpreting Bandit’s expression. 😉

ChunLing on 10/08/2019 @ 4:17 pm

Yes, really.

Jake, are you slow or have you not noticed that Jane doesn’t play well with others?

Oh, and of course it’s not like anyone really likes your Bandit character.

friendlymosquito on 10/08/2019 @ 7:01 pm

Bandit thinks he is such a nice guy. The poor fool 😛

Morthasa on 10/08/2019 @ 11:24 pm

Even though you wanted to cooperate peacefully, you got harmed by a supposed companion who is behaving like a jerk to follow their own agenda?

I’m sure there is no way this is by any means familiar or karmic.

FatedDarkly on 10/09/2019 @ 12:15 am

OF course Jane wouldn’t want help from someone so ingrain with City life and Tenka, she know all about life on the outskirts!

mnmega on 10/09/2019 @ 2:44 am

To be fair, I’m pretty sure only one person in their group wouldn’t have reacted that way.

Anyways, just have someone who’s already Morto kill Jane, not that complicated (though it’s not like Jake’s been shown to be able to think ahead, ever)

Archangel on 10/09/2019 @ 7:35 am

Women.

Iron Ed on 10/09/2019 @ 7:53 pm

LOL!

Centeris2 on 10/09/2019 @ 6:54 pm

My thoughts on Jane’s actions:
1 – attack Kat to prompt the AI to take off for the nearest portal so they can get off the island, as Jane and Sandra wanted
2 – Bandit has attacked the group before and works for Tenka (which wants them to stay on the island), so Jane has no reason to think that he wouldn’t fight her. Gut response would be to defend herself (by lashing out) at him. Plus it would be unJane like to not strike out at him when she has tried to kill the other members of the group. Or she doesn’t realize how close to death she was.

Were I a fan in-universe watching this I’d expect them to kill/vote off Jane because this is twice now that Jane immediately attacked her group members. There is no dramatic tension of ‘oh no will one of them betray the others??’ it’s just ‘ah there goes Jane. Again.’ and I feel like after the apocalypse people would be a lot less interested in creepy edge lord psychopath characters. Of course, it’s not like Jane cares about the sympathy of fans, views are views.

Alexander The 1st on 10/13/2019 @ 1:26 am

I suspect the main reason everyone in the post apocalypse like Morto in the apocalypse is that the hero alignments and Mani are basically about ignoring the battle mechanics of the game – and the game is one of the few times people can engage in Morro behaviour.

The hero alignments at 100% go closely towards (Well, minus Kesti) fleeing from any and all battles in a JRPG, or using speech checks to bypass boss fights – sure, they are mechanics, but they’re less flashy and less involved.

Keybounce on 10/14/2019 @ 11:38 pm

That line in the last panel (as well as the eyeballs) makes me think that Kleya is back, running Kat again.
