Aaaaaand he already broke the “No talking to Kat” rule.

Gilly on 10/16/2018 @ 6:19 pm

My first reaction too. How did he mess up that quickly?

Aean on 10/16/2018 @ 10:59 pm

I kinda suspect it’s not him messing up, but rather a calculated move. Just how far is she going to take that “No talking to me” requirement? And how will she react if he doesn’t follow suit – especially since we know (and Kat knows) that Bandit’s training is essential for Danni?

Is Kat seriously going to respond to this greeting by leaving, and expecting Danni to leave too? Or more likely, is she going to be grumpy and retreat into her shell, while Bandit trains Danni and makes oblique statements that aren’t quite addressed to Kat?

Dude…or rather, Bandit/Jake…you promised you wouldn’t talk to her. Guess the politeness is a habit you can’t kick. (I hope it’s not a total I’m-outta-here offense in Kat’s eyes, but don’t be surprised if she refuses to acknowledge you!)

Not sure if you’ve done this in the past, but being tired as made me lean forward more into my monitor and I’ve noticed how you drew lines to subtly indicate the flow of conversation between Kleya and D. The same thing with how all the thought bubbles are connected and follow a flow, they too connect to D’s and form a very linear path. I like it.

And he instantly talks to her. Well it was fun while it lasted?

maeverin on 10/16/2018 @ 7:28 am

“he obeys rules”
*instantly breaks first rule*

Gaisa on 10/16/2018 @ 10:12 am

Umm, shouldn’t they be wearing their normal out of game clothes (Kleya in schoolgirl and Dani in pants and sweater), in panel two?

Craig on 10/17/2018 @ 1:22 am

nah, look at the colour of the wall, they’re already in game at bandit’s place in panel 2

Gaisa on 10/17/2018 @ 10:28 am

Ohh yeah! 🙂

Marscaleb on 10/16/2018 @ 11:16 am

Heeeeeeeeeeeey KAT!

D was in there while he was talking before, so D knows his plans in detail. Why didn’t D say what he’s up to? Could smooth everything over fast and give her a friend who knows.

“He obeys rules”
*He breaks rules*
LOL

Ah, but Jake knows that D is there listening. In fact, D is pretty much everywhere there is a computational device. Anyone who knows the true nature of the ‘Tenka antivirus’ should automatically be guarding their conversations. And possibly even having fake conversations where D can hear in order to trick Kleya.

On the other hand, how much processing power does D have? Just because he COULD listen in doesn’t mean he actually is.

A third possibility is that she might have given an order to D not to report on Jake before she fought Bandit. I could easily see her ordering D to not remind her of Jake and not spy on him because she didn’t want to be reminded of him.

So three possible reasons why D isn’t saying anything. And there easily could be more reasons.

A thought on your second idea. Bandit is one of the primary people who has been taking a close interest in D’s pet human, and works for their tentative enemy and closest known candidate for rivalry. I think that D would be very willing to provide the processing power for conversation monitoring. Now, there might be additional processing requirements for overcoming the security or something, but that doesn’t seem to have been an issue. Given that D seems to monitor for hacking, it doesn’t seem like D is limited to only a single point of attention, so monitoring a single conversation feed concurrently with other stuff should be easy.

Your other points stand, and there are always more reasons out there, but I can’t see processing limits being a big obstacle in this instance. Bandit and Danni were both there to provide relevance. D has access. The used the word Kleya’s name to ping the conversation, Danni was there so the server was hooked into the network at the time(they are in different cities…). “If D cares than D stares” seems like a safe assumption.

D might not actually be able to UNDERSTAND human conversation to that extent. Especially if the humans are careful to never use names and speak obliquely.

Ok Bandit, now just start calling Danni D wherever Kat is around. That’ll drive her up a wall.
