And Jake did all the work, too.

Jake wasn’t getting paid to be a friend, his dad was “renting” him out.

Next panel Jake:
Unless you’re like One Punch Man. 😀

Horrible fathers seems to be a thing around here.

Kittenykat on 09/14/2018 @ 12:47 pm

I feel like Jake’s dad is ‘The President’ who’s been looming in the background and tormenting Kat’s memories.

Jindra34 on 09/14/2018 @ 5:04 pm

I thought that was Kleya’s dad. Though given everything there might not be an effective difference between the two.

Kittenykat on 09/15/2018 @ 10:15 am

It’s hard to say, given what we know so far. I thought that way for a long time too, and I think that’s the other best possibility for that person’s identity, but what we’re learning of Jake’s Dad’s personality is making me lean more the other way now.

We’ve never seen the face of Keiko’s father, and the President’s face is also always partially obscured (although we’ve seen he has a chipped tooth). I’ve always assumed they were the same person.

But if Jake’s father had generals, it’s possible HE’s the president, and Keiko’s father was “disappeared” by order of Jake’s dad.

This exchange implies that Jake didn’t like Keiko at all.
Does this mean his cautiousness towards her is purely because he’s afraid of her, and not because he see’s her as a friend?

SnigePippi on 09/15/2018 @ 2:23 am

Living with another child like that might have made somewhat bonded to her and make him see her as a kind of annoying and/scary sibling. So partly protective and partly cautious. D

Jakes liked/likes Keiko A lot. it just was not the best start of a relationship and then there was the incidents and everything went to h***. what to do when you are in love with the “Big Bad” and need her to save the world

his malice at this is directed at his Dad, not Keiko. I think had he really been mad at her and the situation he would of left as soon as he had the chance, which Jake him self mentioned he had, and then Brandon asked why he didn’t take the chance. Jake’s answer was basically “I like these guys a lot and I go no place better to go” which would not be the answer he would of given if he really didn’t like it. I also think various things he did up to this point should also prove that he really does like her. I mean if he didn’t he could of turned her in a Long time ago, or let her get captured there was more then a few times he had to pull some crazy stunts to derail people who where starting to suspect she might be the cyborg/hacker. Also we know he’s known or least strongly suspected that Kat is Keiko for a long time now. And that is why he pulled those stunts. He does care about her, and I think he suspects that she didn’t cause the mayhem on purpose.

I dunno. Actual violence is a big psychological step, especially against such an authority figure as your father. *shrug*

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh

some parents really should have been preemptively banned from having children. BUT WHO KNEW
