Danni’s first reaction is SO going to be along the lines of *deadpan stare* “You’re just going to sic your two ribbon-girlfriends on me again, aren’t you?”
And Jake will think “So I have two girlfriends now?”

Makes me wonder if the training arena is going to be the b/w one or if you’re going to hire a colorist again. 🙂

And thanks for clearing the portal thing up on the previous page! I missed the “portal vs. secret portal” thing indeed.

G-d d*** it Brandon, I know you’re part of a video game right now but stop sounding so much like a fandom shipper.

I think he went from “shipping” to “just winding Bandit up for fun” a long time ago.

I am on board with Brandon being the team Shipper.

Here’s some speculation:
The portal’s conditions were optimized to Brandon’s play-style. So, the underground either baited Brandon into backstabbing them or he was in on the plan to reveal it and they wanted to get a certain reaction from Tenka, e.g. transferring the hacker-girl to them or panicking over the portal and thus overlooking something else.

Is The Dude so focused on the romantic aspect because he likes to tease Bandit or is he lacking emotional references in his life and totally ships that?

hard to say, though i’d think maybe a bit of both.
he does know that the two where really really close friends when they where young well before the end happened.

Also Dude knows that Bandit knows, or at least believes, that Kat is that girl and hasn’t told anyone else yet about that suspicion and does try to defray the others from getting to suspicious. it’s fact he’s has gone out of his way to give her the best chance at least a few times which does mean that he does care for her on some level, and i can’t imagine that he’s not seen that.

So I’d say a bit of both. Dude does bring it up mostly to tease Bandit, but he also know it works so well because even though he doesn’t want to admit it he does care about her more then just as a casual friend/team mate.

Did you choose the name “artificer-urza” on purpose just for the “lacking emotional references” comment? 🙂

Nah, that’s just the name I usually use on forums. I’d chop it up to my subconscious humor.

Usually, the guy aims for the girlfriend, and lands in the friend zone.
And here we see Bandit aiming for the friend zone.
We’ll just have to wait and see how he lands.

I feel so sorry for all those guys getting new friends all the time. Sounds terrible.

She’s dominated in nearly every fight to date.

Of her two defeats, the most recent one Jake killed her as an ally on his team. Deliberately.

You know, Dude has a very good point. Kat will react to Bandit dating Danni. Or even just helping Danni.
Watching Jake befriend Kat is gunna be fun.

Hm. Has Bandit been ordered to make friends with Kat, or has Jake (or whatever his LiFe name is) been ordered to make friends with Kleya, or has Jake (reality version) been ordered to make friends with Kleya’s user (name still not known)?

Jake!LiFe might actually have a chance to be friendly with Kleya. He could distance himself from his Bandit persona.

this plan is so doomed because Danni is unlikely to bite and even if she did she is unlikley to betray kleya again. She would just go to Kat for the training

I think he’s still got a fair shot at getting Dani to go with it. while she’ll probably be upset about what happened. Dani’s main goal is to stay in the game as long as she can, because for her game over isn’t just for that game. So he just has to convince her that he’s giving genuine help in that area. And I think that is doable. now will helping Dani get him in with Kat is another story. though I think if he does keep it up long enough Kat will start to come around at least somewhat as she’s also trying to help Dani, having a shared goal does help people to get along.

In terms of special abilities and (game knowledge, but that’s a secret), Kleya is the best, in terms of “physical” prowess Dani is the best, so the only thing Bandit has going for him is trickery and popularity – which are both things Dani is sorely lacking.

Of course, Kleya’s “manager” might fix the popularity problems on her own, so if Bandit doesn’t move fast all he’ll have left to offer is being a snarky @#$@#$. At this rate, Dani & Kat will be in a position to offer HIM training!

Kat would likely show up because she doesn’t trust bandit – or because she thinks she can do better and feels the need to correct what he teaches. Either way, she would be reluctant to leave bandit alone with danni.
And bandit does not expect this make them friends but merely provide an opportunity to interact. An opportunity that he pretty much trashed when he killed her character so this is about his only option to see her outside of the designated playtime. Getting her to trust, like, or even tolerate him will require time and effort which again, can only happen if he has a chance to talk to her out of character.
