Humbleness is a different matter, though.

I just want to say that I really like Panel 4. I think it was done really well 🙂

Kim opens a portal to h*** everytime she is not amused. Then you’d best flee and hope to trigger another portal. Yeah, that must’ve been the motivation of that programmer.

He does have a point.

He has to stay in character while he’s playing Bandit, after all… :3

“The programmers were killed for exactly this reason”?

… I’m not following. Anyone understand that?

Because of Deconstruct Me and the apocalypse (basically the start of the setting for this story) programmers were often suspected of being hackers, and hackers were ruthlessly murdered because of the catastrophe. You could say, the most skilled programmers are only now at Tenka, and all the others who weren’t so well protected are dead. This leads to the situation where Kat is clearly valuable to not only Tenka (who would like more skilled programmers) but also to people like Sandra (who find their cities in disrepair with nobody to pick up the slack).

You could therefore then argue the programmers were instead killed so that Tenka could control the remaining population (in a technologically advanced world, the one with the best tech wins and Tenka has the largest pool of skilled programmers). You have to remember that Tenka was part of the front against the Deconstruct Me members as well and could have easily manipulated the hacker hunts (which would be like a modern day witch hunt).

Or to put another way – Tenka is Post Apocalypse Google.

Although if Tenka were to find out who Kat really is, they would most likey want to execute her, quickly. So would most of the population for that matter as she was the head of Deconstruct Me, although the dissaster that resulted in the apocolypse was an accident. Unfortunatly, most people think it was done on purpose.

most compauter experts were killed after the end of the world

Unfortunately kim is being a professional moderator, sure a tad jumpy but when lives are on the line, resting on your shoulders… oddly enough though I think the story has gotten rather dry and the struggle to keep continuity has been bleeding onto page recently… Still great work, you’ve built several relatively believable worlds without ever once making central villains beyond mini arc enemies.

I would argue rather than a villain you have an anti villain trying to come to terms with the events of her life leading up to the end of the world. Almost like an Ender’s Game-esk scenario. Or maybe a better example would be Ender’s Shadow.
