This is so absolutely ridiculuos. Everybody’s going off incomplete information, and Kat who knows more than anyone is just confused and new to the whole ‘socializing thing’. Someone please hold her ;~;

For purely a game, with players bound by real world concerns, the destination in-game seems strangely important

“I just want to be left alone! And killing people.”

She speaks? We’re doomed she speaks and she may cut them all down to no specials for vengeance and fun. And Kat is fine with that as long as they play nice…possibly not murder and mayhem then hmmm what does kitty Kat want to do now. Get a new esos/extra life. But whatever it is she now knows murder Mc Dollgoth doesn’t want to play with portals…she know the cake is a lie.

Or she doesn’t have the shoes for all the fall damage so she’s not willing to play portal till then…fall damage portal or portal 2 would be a short experience.

Hey! I think I’m first! I’m not sure yet, some comment(s) may be awaiting moderation, but still!

I love how Kat is the first person Jane decides to talk to when she revives, also, why doesn’t she want that portal? Is it like, “Ehh, I don’t need that I have something else,” or like an “I am not going into that portal no matter what you say whatsoever.” ? Also I know this is a stupid question, but why wouldn’t she want the portal? She did say she wants “off this island.”… …

Torrenal on 01/21/2017 @ 12:42 pm

Well, Jane has expressed that she has a….disagreement…With Tenka. That makes her focus on Kat understandable. Her choices for possible collaboration:
Bandit: enemy
The Dude: clueless enemy (danger Will Robinson, danger)
Danni: clueless noob
Kat: third party w/ skills (also an evil overlord bent on world destruction, maybe? But she does mean well)

In her shoes, I’d side with the overlord.

Calling it now – she wants Iemis’ *personal* portal.

Hmmmm…Why not?
Curiouser and Curiouser

Am I da only dwagon that seems to be a little lost at this point in the storyline?

Torrenal on 01/22/2017 @ 2:46 am

Well… working from memory…

You have Jane, who expressed that her kids were at risk from Tenka.
You have The Dude and bandit (members of Tenka), Danni the clueless noob, and Kat (hacker, possible destroyer of worlds, and target for death by everyone on the planet except possibly Bandit, should her identity be discovered).

Jane wants to go to another island (reasons unspecified).
Kat, living alone with some AI-esque dragon thing wants to socialize and is all ‘Raaaa! Be Nice!!’, but seems prone to bouts of just ‘Raaaa!!’ that break stuff, which isn’t very nice. Kat’ she former BF is The Bandit, explaining why he alternately seems to want to kill her and watch what she does.
Danni wants to stay online, probably due to an injury in real life, but doesn’t really know the game.
The Dude is harder to understand. He plays chess, and plays a fool, his real personality and goals are harder to understand. The two qualities set him up to be a mastermind, but he defers to the Bandit…
BAndit and The Dude have plans, possibly nefarious, of their own, but Kat’s non-deadness may have permanently upset those plans, so they’re looking to figure out Kat’s plan. Or kill her, because ‘Raaaa!’, and evidently she did blow up the planet that one time.
The only person in the whole story I can see the two plotting against is Dr Grace, who has both a position of authority and an unusual interest in finding the person who destroyed the world, although the nature of his position and interest are both unclear.

There are some other side characters, but none of them have shown to have either the authority or the pure ‘Raaaa!’ factor to be central to the plot, but they do flesh out the setting.

I kind of see Bandit and Dude as a Manzaishi pair. With Bandit being the Tsukkomi(straight man) and Dude being the Boke(funny/broke man). While I doubt that’s what Aneeka had in mind when she made them, it seems to fit.

TitaniumDawn on 01/23/2017 @ 11:08 am

I think “Raaa”‘s name is actually D.
I also have a THEORY that D is actually consuming her or something, because everytime he’s there, he tries to get Kat to hack. Furthermore, D could be the one who egged her on and made her nearly destroy the world. D also could be a program built into the cyber-thingy that Kat has, which is probably the reason why she can see all the code. 🙂

Liliet on 01/23/2017 @ 11:58 pm

I think all the characters are a little lost at this point of storyline tbh, so, REALLY not weird

Pebkio on 01/22/2017 @ 4:29 am

Jane, it’s so hard to keep your insane motivations together that it really doesn’t matter what you want. Jake’s wants Kat’s help to defeat the virus that he doesn’t know she controls yet has to protect her from the people who owns the world. Dude is just along for the ride. Danni is trying to stay in the game. Kat wants to prove she’s a good person so people will accept her help with fixing the mess she caused.

What is the point of Jane? She doesn’t help anything. I’M TALKING ABOUT PLOT PROGRESSION. She’s a gigantic wall that holds everyone back from everything and the only time anything happened story-wise is when she was off killing small creatures and trees.

Can she either just reveal *anything* about her actual goals or can someone (Bandit) just bloody kill her already?

Liliet on 01/24/2017 @ 12:04 am

I’m thinking right now that Jane is Kat’s ticket into normal-people-hood. She’s in cahoots with the sponsors and she looks at Kat not as a f***ed up friend but as an element of society. And like, yeah, Kat’s friendship with Danni is very important, but the only things it’s going to get her are internal. Danni doesn’t have connections, any kind of normal life to invite Kat to. Meanwhile Jane is moderately successful, knows what she’s doing, and has somewhere specific she wants to go with Kat.

Dude and Bandit and their vague plans are great, but they are just way too vague. They are confused themselves and are just figuring out what Kat is like now. Meanwhile Jane is there to give Kat direction and the kind of connection to the world that ‘normal people’ get. Something Kat never really had before.

Draken on 01/24/2017 @ 12:42 am

She’s the foil. A counterpoint to the other characters allowing for drama. In-context, she’s too powerful to kill, the income is too important for her to leave, and she hates Tenka too much to negotiate.

Dragon Master on 01/23/2017 @ 10:52 am

Jane doesn’t want <b.“that portal”. She wants a different one, her portal is in another island. xD
