It’s cheap, sure, but I think just going up the village pole and grabbing the Esone there should give a “better” score than Morto 0.0 XD

Morto 28.6 I just killed a bunch of fiendi. Heh. I’m not really sure how to do anything other than Morto path.

For low Demoli score, go to the down below island at once and cut the vine, then take the esone there. That ends the game and gives you some Demoli.

I seem to be stuck in the lake, drinking water to heal every time the fiendi all attack me. I imagine I missed several steps. I was trying to see what other options we had besides “get the malerve first” and “make the kid crash one island into the other.” I’ll probably have to start over.

As a game, it’s ok — no worse than The Colossal Cave,” a.k.a. “adventure.” XYZZY! 🙂

As a tutorial, though… not so much. 😉

It’s not the first part of the tutorial. Presumably you learn all the other mechanics first, and this is just putting them together so you can choose your route/alignment.

I can’t get the fiendi to leave me alone. He eats up all of my malerve before i can figure out how to combine it with the flower. I can still get a good erbana score, but I can’t do the cool stuff Kat does.

Oh well, time to try for kesti.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing to try the game for myself, it just doesn’t make it any less annoying 😀

By the way, any chance you would at the very least hint us how to get the Kesti route?

Now it’s Morto 42.9. Seems like I’m really terrible with quests.

Also, how many actions do we have before the woman’s death?

Forward+forward+down+5xgrab malerve+up+forward
that makes 13
that’s the maximum, 6xgrab malerve already kills her.
oh and after you get to her but before you talk to her you seem to have unlimited actions

what annoys me is that incorrect actions count as a tick of time

Ok so Erbana route
– I can’t gather more than six malerve from the start, and if I try to, the woman dies.
– I can give malerve to woman before catching the fiendi, but she doesn’t give the flower then, nor when I catch the fiendi after that. Catch -> give is the only acceptable sequence.
– Having done everything optimally, I get to the jungle with one free move with fiendi still pet.
– If I kill it, then get down and get more malerve, then get back up, I can’t use malerve to subdue attacking fiendi – “the interpreter doesn’t understand command”. This really sucks.
– If I pick up undergrowth, I immediately drop it with distaste.
– I don’t see any use for the flower.
– ???
Is there some secret command or something?

I managed to find out that if I use the flower near the lake it will glow weakly and I’ll be told it doesn’t do much by itself. Undergrowth still gets dropped, use malerve still gives “not understand”.
This is progress, but… holy sh** Erbana is the toughest route

“look undergrowth” lists a bunch of things and I tried to get each one. The “weeds” gave a different message and so if I “look weeds”, it pointed out that there was a green weed. I tried “get green weed” and it picked it up. That’s probably what is needed.

The green weed is one of the things you need for full Erbana. Another is the command “wrap malerve around flower”. It took quite a few guesses to figure that one out, with all the variations on “use/combine malerve” getting errors whether I mentioned the flower or not.

Also, even a fully completed flower does nothing if you kill all the fiendi first, as happened in the attempt where I first figured out that command. Fiendi kept interrupting my experimental commands, so I killed them so I’d survive to continue experimenting, and I ended up with a flower/malerve/weed combo that I dipped in the lake to no effect.

Surprise! Out of 6 commentators 3 chose Erbana! So much for an unwanted route, eh? %)

Well I at least am direct target audience for that route… like, when I saw it, my thoughts were “holy sh** I need it to be real”. And given how few actual real life games allow for it… yeah, some people might, like me, just be jumping on the first opportunity to play something like that.
(Which was my argument for Erbana not hurting Kat’s popularity btw: there are bound to be some lovers of the route who don’t see anyone do it and will subscribe to Kat regardless of anything else, just because she does their fave)

Then, there’s the fact that it’s a route which Kat has taken. Who is the protagonist of this work. Duh.

And finally, it seems to be really hard to complete. I have already won twice with relatively low Morto and Demoli scores, just by accident because I grabbed the esone down below. But I did not comment on that because there wasn’t actually anything to comment on… it’s Erbana that’s interesting.

I actually play pacifist runs in the (very few) games that allow them. All the deus ex games I played as a pacifist for instance (well, if beating someone on the head until they fall unconscious and hoping they don’t die count’s as a pacifist). I’m also always a healer in games that allow choosing of class.

Even if she wasn’t the main character I would be trying to figure out the pacifist run if I could. I think a pacifist on an evil team could be interesting as well. Though I still don’t know how these teams ‘compete’ really, presumably its more then just a death match every week, so were have to see what the real game is even like.

Okay, so “use flower” leads to it being dropped in the lake, but malerve just doesn’t add to it.

I tried the card route and was able to get a card from the mists. The boy wanted to play a card game and so I played it and lost my card.

Yay! I was able to get three cards. I found a card in one of the huts, a card in the mists, and was able to win the card from the boy.

Ok, I give up. Please, how did you manage to get the card in the mists?

How far did you get? Once you have the wisp with you, you need to follow its directions based on its orientation. So when it faces left and points backward (I think that is one of the steps), it means you need to go right.

Yes, I did follow the wisp. After the initial “left” it start a sequence of six moves that repeats once and again.

The sequence of signals I saw is:

looks right, points down
looks right, points ahead
looks right, points behind
looks right, points ahead
looks right, points down
looks ahead, points left

I followed it time after time for about 35 moves without noticing a thing. The distance to the islands do not seems to change.

If there was an exit I missed it both times 🙂

You appear to be going backwards and forwards in the sequence. There are only 4 steps (after entering the mists) that I have to follow:

straight ahead and points left -> this means go “left”
looks right and points down -> this means go “down”
looks right and points straight ahead -> this means go “right”
looks right and points behind -> this means go “left”

So left, down, right, and left is the sequence and it takes you to a bigger wisp that asks three questions.

Ok, I see. At step four I went “backward” instead “left” and lost the way.

I could not realize a logic relationship (did you?) so I went with trial and error. At gesture four I tried “backward” and the wisp accepted it. I thought that only one move would be accepted at each instance so I did not tried another one.

However it seems that ALL the gestures allow to go backward but then something weird happend, I did not comprehensive test it yet.

Looking back actually it do have little sense to go backward, I was just trying all moves and had a little bad luck. I really should have realized it.

How do you get the wisp? I got the card from the boy by stealing it, but I can’t get a wisp to give me directions. They all yell jungle at me.

Fun fact: if you do the Kesti route and take the boy with you, and later come back, the boy doubles. As in, there is one with you and one with the woman. Maybe she has many kids.

now I want to do an exploit where I end up with 500 boys by taking one each time I go back. I’ll sick my army of infinite untrained boys to take out the fiendi!

It’s really annoying that you can’t ask the woman for hints. Ask about flower, weed, fiendi, jungle, all give you “ask for what”? For a recipe of what to do with the flower and the weed, that’s what!

even after I properly use the combination when I come down to the village there’s a fiendi there and I don’t have any malerve…
what do I do with the fiendi I have with me initially??? I run out of malerve before I come to the lake…

As far as I can tell, you have to either kill that fiendi or allow it to kill the woman. You can’t carry enough malerve to get it far enough to not run back to the village and still have any to use on the flower. It occurs to me that the comic says fiendi chase the boy, though, so maybe if you bring him with you?

Once you assemble the flower/malerve/weed combination and use it at the lake, the only thing remaining for completion is finding and picking up the esone. Neither killing the fiendi nor allowing the woman to die will affect your final Erbana score, however odd that seems.

Killing the fiendi and/or letting the woman die and it not affecting your score is a bug. Sorry! We’ll get it fixed 🙂

After you’ve tamed the fiendi and finished talking to the woman, go forward (over the wall), not backwards. You’ll have enough malerve to get to the lake then.

Is there a way to do that? I found the “forward” way to leave the village (by chance) but I arrive to the jungle with just two malerve and so I have to use it immediately, before to head to the lake. Still a 100 in the end.

Silly me, I assumed the village would be larger than one square on the location grid. There is still not enough malerve carrying capacity to both assemble the flower and reach the lake, but you can reach the jungle before running out and that seems to be enough. I didn’t hear a scream, at least.

Well, everything’s been answered before I got here, huh.
Gathered the maximum amount of malerve.
Got to the village, caught the fiendi, gave malerve to woman, headed forward.
Reached the jungle without wasting any time.
Combined malerve and flower right after entering the jungle – apparently, I didn’t have enough malerve for one more step. Dunno what happened to that fiendi afterwards, but no screams were heard, and I never left the jungle to check.
Got green weed.
Reached the lake.
Kept standing there like a complete moron trying various commands to add weed in, drinking from the lake every 2-3 turns as five fiendis were eating me.
Found the right command, sent fiendis after the artifact and went to find the esone.

Managed a decent Cardista run (71.4), but I still can’t get the kid to trade me for the mist card, I always end up giving it to him and get nothing in return. Has anyone managed to make the trade. Still trying to thread the Kesti needle.

By the way, didn’t you find disappointing that the boy’s corpse did not have the d**ned mist card. It seems it just vanished.

If you look at the boy after winning his card it still says he is holding on to a card. Spooky phantom card OooOoOooOOoOOoo!

I tried to get the boy to open the portals. I used every variation on “command boy to open the portals” I could think of. Has anyone figured this out? It’s probably something really obvious, but I just can’t find it. Thanks.

Well, I figured out how to get Kesti 42.9.
first use wisps to get to the village
You want to “ask about help” to the people instead of “command people”, and you give the woman some malerve, but I feel like there is something I should be doing with the boy, as him just fleeing when I enter the jungle certainly doesn’t feel very quest-completion-like. Maybe you aren’t supposed to go for the jungle esone with Kesti?
also note that if you just keep moving in the jungle there is no need to fight the fiendi.
…actually, giving the malerve to the woman didn’t net me a quest reward like it did for kleya, hmm…
I’ll try that next.

I just completed a playthrough where I:
killed a fiendi by throwing the boy at it
killed the boy (not “allowed a fiendi to kill him”, I actually killed him myself)
killed the woman (same)

My final score: Erbana 85.7

Even with doing the Erbana route perfectly aside from those three events, I think such blatant violations (especially killing the boy and woman) should limit Erbana score rather more severely than that.

This is really pathetic, but I legitimately can’t figure out the first step. The very. First. One.

Sometimes if I do random stuff for long enough a scream comes from a random village, but nothing else happens and I don’t know how to make it happen. I swear of done like everything.

I’ve been trying and trying to find the forest esone but I can’t. Is there an action I’m missing or…

While in the forest, keep moving around until you start getting signs of a soft glow nearby (not the lake’s glow, but another one). Head in that direction.

Thanks :)I’m having a ton of fun trying to figure out the routes, though it seems I can’t replicate bandit’s route(my highest score is always 71.4 on demoli) I’ve killed the fiendi, commanded the boy, cut the vine, knocked into the island…there must be something I’m missing. Unless you penalise for time, because I always take forever to get on the pole after I cut the vine. Do you?

I DID IT I GOT 100% ERBANA

I… well, I didn’t hack, but in most MMOs setting up scripts counts as cheating doesn’t it
but with the ‘typo’d command advances time’ thing there’s no room for error in stuff you already figured out…

I now have a saved script of the entire Erbana route
there are a couple of ‘dance’ there in safe places just to mark them for people who want to read it and figure it out instead XD
